Hurt to Help Launches Next Round of Bin 2 Bin Community Benefit Fund
Hurt to Help is proud to announce the launch of the next round of the Bin 2 Bin Community Benefit Fund, opening on 1 August 2026.
The Fund was established to recognise the extraordinary efforts of the Narembeen community in supporting and driving the inaugural Bin 2 Bin Marathon — an event designed not only to raise the profile of Hurt to Help and generate vital funds for rural West Australians in need, but also to showcase Narembeen's leadership, resilience, and spirit of giving.
The Bin 2 Bin Community Benefit Fund exists to give back to the Narembeen community, supporting projects that build wellbeing, connectedness, and resilience. Community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals with projects that deliver demonstrable whole community benefit are encouraged to apply.
The Fund will be administered in partnership between the Bin 2 Bin Committee and Hurt to Help. The Bin 2 Bin Committee will manage the day-to-day administration of the Fund, while the Hurt to Help Board will provide financial support and oversee the governance of the program.
Applications for Round 2 open on 1 August 2026 and close on 31 August 2026. Guidelines and application forms are available from the Narembeen CRC or digital copies can be downloaded from www.hurttohelp.com.au or by contacting Lynda at admin@hurttohelp.com.au or via mobile 0428 635 030.

Projects that strengthen community wellbeing, build resilience following hardship, encourage inclusion and collaboration, and deliver lasting benefits for the wider Shire of Narembeen.
Community Wellbeing
Projects that strengthen connection, inclusion, and collective resilience across the Shire of Narembeen.
Hardship & Recovery
Initiatives responding to natural disasters, drought, trauma, or other adversity that the community faces together.
Leadership & Skills
Training, workshops, forums, and programs that build community capacity and local leadership for the long term.
Examples of Funded Projects
- Community wellbeing or resilience initiatives
- Shared equipment and community resources
- Community events (hardship or recovery focused)
- Minor infrastructure improvements with community access
- Leadership, education and skills programs
- Innovative projects addressing local needs
What We Don't Fund
- Individual or private benefit
- Commercial or for-profit ventures
- Ongoing operating expenses
- Purely celebratory or social events
- Retrospective projects
- Projects outside the Shire of Narembeen
Applications
Who can apply?
✓ Eligible Applicants
- Community groups and not-for-profit organisations within the Shire of Narembeen
- Incorporated associations
- Informal community groups or individuals delivering clear community-wide benefit
- Auspiced applications where an incorporated body takes financial responsibility
✕ Not Eligible
- Private individuals seeking personal benefit only
- Sole traders or for-profit businesses
- Schools or institutions for core curriculum costs
- Federal, State or Local Government departments
- Organisations whose primary purpose is fundraising
- Applicants who have not acquitted previous Bin 2 Bin funding
Total Funding Pool Per Round
$7,500
Grants are assessed on community need, impact, feasibility, collaboration, and long-term benefit. Partial funding may be awarded where appropriate.

Download the guidelines and application form. Read the eligibility criteria and funding priorities carefully before preparing your submission.
Submit by 31 Aug
Complete the official Bin 2 Bin Benefit Fund application form. Supporting documents such as budgets or letters of support may be included.
Panel Assessment
Applications are assessed by a Bin 2 Bin appointed panel including members of the Hurt to Help Board against the published criteria.
Outcome & Agreement
Successful applicants are notified and must sign a Funding Agreement. Funds must be spent within 12 months with a simple project report provided on completion.
Conditions of Funding
- Successful applicants must sign a Funding Agreement
- Acknowledgement of the Bin 2 Bin Benefit Fund in promotional material is appreciated
- Funds must be spent within 12 months unless an extension is granted
- A project report, photos and proof of expenditure must be provided on completion

We had a record number of runners, and together we were able to raise over $40,000 for Hurt to Help.
This money allows Hurt to Help to assist rural families in need — and we are so proud to be a part of that.

Looking Ahead
A note on the future of the event
We would like to thank everyone who has supported the Bin 2 Bin Marathon over the years. Your enthusiasm, commitment, and involvement have helped make the event what it is today.
After careful consideration, Hurt to Help and the Shire of Narembeen have made the decision to transition the Bin 2 Bin Marathon from an annual event to a bi-annual event. As a result, there will be no Bin 2 Bin Marathon in 2027, with the event returning in 2028 (bigger and better than ever).
Delivering a successful marathon requires a significant investment of time, people, funding, and resources. By moving to a two-year cycle, we can utilise these resources more effectively, continue to deliver a high-quality event, and ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Bin 2 Bin Marathon.
